We’re thrilled to announce Union Metrics for Tumblr. This is the very first measurement product designed specifically for Tumblr that provides analytics based on their entire firehose of data. That includes more than 100 million Tumblr events per day. And, to add to the excitement, Tumblr has officially named us their preferred analytics provider!

What is the demographic breakdown of Tumblr?

Take it away, Quantcast;

The US is Tumblr’s highest source of traffic. We all know Tumblr skews to a young demographic, but perhaps most surprising is the 46% of Tumblr users over 35.

Also surprising is the more even split between male and female users (51%/49%), which I’d have guessed was skewed slightly more female.

Of course, Quantcast isn’t the only traffic analysis tool on the web, so for comparison, here is a recent comScore (August 30th);

Though the age brackets differ slightly, the comScore graph shows a more expected swing to the youth demographic, with half of Tumblr’s traffic coming from those under the age 25.

The difference between the two graphs may be mobile usage, which Quantcast apparently includes in its analysis.

Either way, Tumblr has an unchallenged dominance among the youth demographic, meaning advertisers and brands should finally sit up and take note (I’ve been telling you for 18 months!) - Tumblr is the future.
